What is Porvoon Pirkko?

Pirkko refers to a common Finnish girl's name. In some regional slang, all girls can be called Pirkko in a positive way of expression. In this case Pirkko originates from Porvoo.

Porvoon Pirkko was born before the rural municipality of Porvoo and the city of Porvoo were united and will propably enjoy the pictoresque landscape happily ever after. Pirkko was innovated for city branding and marketing by the local Finnish design shop Design Deli with a helpful hand of talented Finnish illustrator Terese Bast in 2008. So far, Pirkko's constantly growing designer collection, available locally, has reached its target markets.

Released as limited editions in 2008-2010: Organic coffee, organic tea (sold out), organic mulled wine (seasonal, also available at x-mas 2010), notebook, postcard, stamp (sold out), organic soy wax candle "baked" in a tiny cake tin (sold out) and refill, and a bamboo dishcloth (handprinted in Porvoo).

Stick to Pirkko's blog and you will learn an amazing amount of the hardworking Finns, Finland's 2nd oldest city, and innovative thinking. Don't worry, Porvoon Pirkko will be a neverending story.
